Rev. Kurian Peter
The Rev. Kurian Peter is an ordained minister of the Church of South India having 20 years of Pastoral experience. Hailing from the city of Cochin, Kerala, India. Born to K. J. Peter and Late Aleyamma Peter, Kurian did his studies in the area of Economics, History and Theology. Ordained in 1999 he served as the Director of the department of Christian Education in the Diocese of North Kerala, Church of South India, coordinating the diocesan Sunday School ministry of the CSI. He also served as the Diocesan Youth worker. Then he became the founder Director of the Child Development Center, Meppady that ministered to the educational needs of the children of the poor families in the nearby society and monitoring the holistic development mission among the students. He also served as the Manager of two resident homes for deprived children brought from the distant parts of the state, especially the tribal communities. There were many orphans and abandoned children with lots of social challenges. Then he ministered as the Chairman for the ‘Karunalayam’ a special School at Aluva for the mentally challenged. Also served as the Manager for the English Medium High School in Aluva. He also directed the CSI Counseling Centre at Ernakulam. He was also the Manager of the Diocesan Social ministry and the Women Empowerment Project in Adimaly, Kerala. He has also pioneered two mission fields, which is now flourishing in the Diocese of Malabar. He has been a participant in the Council for World Mission and also attended the All Presbyterian Christian Educators Conference held at San Antonio, Dallas, USA. He was able to lead a group of 30 people to the Holy Land of Israel. Very recently he was able to direct a new Activity Based Sunday School Curriculum for the CSI Malabar Diocese. Being a lover of Christian Music, he plays guitar and composes songs for the benefit of Christian Nurture. Even while holding all these responsibilities he was always in charge of local parishes. He served at the Immanuel Cathedral of Cochin Diocese as its Vicar. He was serving at CSI St. John’s Adimali, when he was invited to come and serve at the St. Matthews Ashburton and the Melbourne CSI Church.
Kurian is married to Smitha Mary Mathew and they are blessed with two children Krupa Elsa Kurian and Kepha Kurian.
